F.Layegh, C.Thompson and M.Gerris talk about “The Waste Land” project
Inspired by T. S. Eliot’s The Waste Land, this interdisciplinary production explores a world suspended between collapse and renewal — moving through isolation, resistance and the persistent possibility of beginning again.
At the heart of the production is Farokhzad Layegh’s Lexolalia Descenticum, a work that became a central source of inspiration and a musical thread throughout the performance.
The sound of Amsterdam Sinfonietta meets the physical language of ISH Dance Collective, bringing strings, contemporary dance and aerial acrobatics into a single dramatic space. Music and movement continually challenge one another, tracing a journey from darkness towards light, from fragmentation towards regeneration.
The Waste Land becomes not simply an interpretation of Eliot’s poem, but a contemporary meditation on disconnection, resilience and the human impulse to rise again.
